Secure · Neutral · Verifiable

Housing lotteries your board, your auditors, and your applicants can trust.

AuditDraw is a neutral third party that processes housing lotteries for the agencies responsible for them. Our carefully-engineered process is provably random, independently verifiable, and documented to a standard that holds up under scrutiny. We've got you covered.

When housing is decided by a drawing, the integrity of the process has to be beyond question.

An affordable unit, a voucher, a place on a waitlist, the result changes someone's life. Families trust that the process was fair. Boards, auditors, funders, and the public expect proof that it was.

Fairness that can be demonstrated.

When an agency runs its own lottery, questions about favoritism can surface no matter how careful the process was. Clear separation between the agency and the drawing puts those questions to rest.

Compliance that can be documented.

Housing lotteries sit inside a web of federal, state, and local requirements. Producing audit-quality records consistently is difficult with general-purpose tools.

Results that can be defended.

Outcomes can be challenged by applicants, advocates, oversight agencies, or the courts. Without tamper-evident records, defending a result becomes an argument instead of a settled fact.

Privacy that can be kept.

Applicants hand over sensitive PII, yet many lotteries run in spreadsheets and general-purpose software never designed to protect it. A system that distinguishes between PII and public data is crucial.

A specialized, independent processor answers all four. That is exactly what AuditDraw was built to be.

Core principals you can rely on with every lottery.

A provably fair drawing.

Every draw uses cryptographically secure randomization, performed on a dedicated, isolated server with no internet access in or out. One server per lottery, spun up for your drawing alone and erased afterwards.

Evidence anyone can verify.

Signed reports, timestamped logs, and a tamper-evident Certificate of Authenticity that boards, auditors, and stakeholders can check independently, without exposing a single applicant's information.

Nothing left to breach.

Applicant data is purged the moment processing completes. AuditDraw keeps no standing database of applicant information. Information we no longer hold can never be compromised or exposed.

Certified housing lottery results in three steps.

Our web application is ready for you and your team to create and schedule lotteries, monitor live progress, download results, and access past data. While our Full-Service email-based option continues to be available, for nearly all agencies this will be the ideal way to work. Scheduling a lottery takes as few as three steps:

1 Upload your source data.

Drop in your applicant spreadsheet (.xlsx or .csv). Any problems with your data are caught and resolved at this step, before going any further.

2 Confirm your options.

AuditDraw automatically detects column types and suggests options based on what is provided. Confirm or make changes here.

3 Schedule the lottery.

Pick a specific date and time, or choose "run as soon as possible." AuditDraw delivers your signed results when the lottery has finished.

Full render of an AuditDraw Certificate of Authenticity

One page. Portable proof.

Each lottery's Certificate of Authenticity is a single, portable page certifying that AuditDraw performed the lottery as a neutral third party, and that our records match your records. It can go into a board presentation, a public-records response, or a packet for legal counsel, all without revealing a single applicant's information.

What the certificate carries:

  • The lottery's unique Certificate Key
  • Number of entries and completion date
  • Two AuthentiKey digital signatures
  • Anti-tamper visual features
  • A QR code linking to the certificate's online record

Every lottery returns a complete, self-contained evidence package.

A single archive holds everything: the full Agency Report for internal and audit use, a Public Record Report with all personal information removed (ready for board packets and public-records responses), your results in three formats, live-written server logs, the signed Certificate of Authenticity, and an untouched copy of your original source file.

Because these records can only be generated by the server that ran your lottery, at the instant it completes and just before the data is purged, every report and certificate is the first, final, and only version of that record. That is why it can be trusted as evidence.

New website. Not a new service.

AuditDraw's methods have been running real housing lotteries since 2019, when an affordable-housing department near Salt Lake City went looking for a specialized third-party processor and couldn't find one. Hundreds of lotteries later, nearly all of them arriving by referral from other agencies across the Mountain West, the same trusted process is now open to eligible organizations nationwide. The web platform is new, but every safeguard, report format, and deliverable has been shaped by years of real-world use.
